The Incredible Journey of a 20th Century Knight-Errant

★★★★4.3·12 reviews

The Incredible Journey of a 20th Century Knight-Errant is an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind, rollicking adventure story inspired by actual events. A young art student, Kurt, and his friend, Joey, secretly board an unoccupied cargo ship during a New York City holiday in 1968. When the occupants suddenly return, they inadvertently transport their frightened stowaways all the way to Europe, launching a year-long misadventure for the young men and testing the limits of their mettle and friendship. After disembarking in England, the young men are having so much fun they recklessly decide to stay in Europe and see the sights where Kurt finds love in France and meets his German grandmother for the first time. Seeking further adventures, the young men sign on as crew members on a ship departing France and stopping at major ports along the way to South Africa, mingling with an oddball assortment of characters and experiencing sights and sounds beyond anything they could have ever imagined. But it is their travels to Argentina that presents the most unsettling encounter of their journey. It is there that they find themselves suddenly ensconced in the secret lair of former Nazis in hiding. It is Kurt’s familial connection to one of the Nazis that will torment him for the rest of his life. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat as the boys’ antics get them in and out of one crazy scheme after another, all the time wondering if they will ever make it back home alive to Missouri.
