Its origin can be traced back to the munus, i.e., the practice of rich and famous personalities of sponsoring public performances during religious holidays, festivals and events. The Emperor Vespasianus built the largest amphitheatre in the world for gladiatorial games: the Flavian Amphitheatre, better known as the Coliseum. The fights happened often took place between couples of different gladiator types such as the myrmillons, the thracians, the secutores, the retiarii, each characterized by his own equipment and fighting style. Italeri’s range of 1/72 figures and Vehicles presents the perfect range for War gaming, modelling or just simply playing. The traditional model figures stand upright on a flat base. The range also includes structures, buildings & vehicles which can provide elements of realism and interest to any scenario. 1/72 Figures This range has something for everybody, from 1st /2nd Century Gaul Warriors and12th Century Crusaders, through to Second World War British Army infantry and US Vietnam War Special Forces. For added realism each figure can be painted. Paint is available from all leading model shops. 1/72 Vehicles An extensive series of vehicles is available in the main from the WWII era. Vehicles include both Allied and German tanks, guns and armoured cars in this fantastically detailed small scale. Both glue and paint are required to build and finish each model.
