The Mystery of the Missing Majorette: Art Dodger Case File #1
From the Author The idea for a series featuring a cold-case sleuth came from watching what a friend went through whose teenaged daughter disappeared. The story had a relatively happy ending. The girl ultimately turned up alive, albeit badly in need of rehab. From the ages of sixteen to eighteen she'd been the virtual prisoner of a group of Hollywood hangers-on who used her as currency to get drugs. When she was finally able to get away, bruised and groggy, she made it to a hospital whose staff called her mother. Her mother was relieved but furious because she'd repeatedly reported her daughter missing and even given the police a tip that the girl was almost certainly in Hollywood, trying to break into the movies. Because the girl was young and extremely pretty - and because she and her mother didn't get along - the authorities assumed she'd headed West of her own accord. This was just before laws changed in regard to missing minors, and it was clear they were doing very little to find the girl. For two years, it appeared that the girl had simply fallen through the cracks. That made me start to wonder about how many people go missing every year and are never even properly looked for because false assumptions are made. Which led to the birth of Art Dodger, tragic hero, survivor (just barely) of a childish mistake that led to the murder of his family. At least, Dodger knew, more or less, what happened to his family, and he can't imagine what it would be like never to know. In this series, he does everything he can to make sure they do. The answers he finds may not be pleasant, but at least they're there to provide whatever comfort can be drawn from them. About the Author

Doc fetch goes through Layer's Aerospike pull-through cache; cache hit served the row without touching turbopuffer. The similar query re-embeds this product's title with CLIP-text and runs a vector query — queries don't go through the doc cache, so no cache header is set.
