
White Mountain Hikes: Legends, Mysteries and More
About the Author Author Linda Ward is a fourth generation native of New Hampshire's White Mountains. Linda has spent more than 40 years hiking and exploring these woods, both on and off the trail. She is an occasional speaker on the topic and is currently working on a program that provides access for inner-city children to experience hiking in the White Mountains. In addition to hiking the White Mountains, Linda has spent most of her life raising her two wonderful boys (Ryan and Jacob). She has volunteered as an EMT, Little League Coach and Odyssey of the Mind Competition Coach. Her strong sense of community values has always been a driving force in her decisions throughout her life. She has won honorable mentions for creative writing as well as poetry and has had several articles about the White Mountains published with local magazines. Linda has worked as a designer/layout artist for local advertising booklets and town reports. She has always worked within the tourism industry in the White Mountains with the single minded goal of enhancing the quality and experience of visiting the White Mountains of NH. Her earliest years were spent at the Caramat Inn in Sugar Hill, named after the Tamarac trees which grow in the woods behind the Inn. Her grandparents built the Inn out of a small farm house. Among the many guests that stayed there was Betty Davis, whose story is included in (White Mountain Hikes; Legends, Mysteries and More). As mentioned above it is Linda's goal is to create a hiking program for children to learn ways of coping with and overcoming life's challenges through lessons she feels can best be related too and learned from the challenges of completing a hike and hopes that you will support her in her goal to reach 250,000 readers to help finance this program.
