Grey Dawn (A Dulcie Schwartz Mystery)
From Booklist Harvard grad-student Dulcie Schwartz and the ghost of her dead cat Mr. Grey return in the third in the series. When Dulcie goes to her campus office one night, she hears what sounds like a wolf and then finds her department head walking in a daze. The next day, she learns a girl who looks just like Dulcie was attacked. She can’t help but compare the situation to a manuscript she has uncovered about a werewolf. Then a visiting professor is also attacked after telling Dulcie she has information for her. Suddenly, Dulcie has become the prime suspect. The cat element is minimal this time, though Dulcie does receive cryptic messages from both living and dead felines. The academic setting, always a strong point in this series, remains appealing, but the plot proves a bit confusing, thanks mainly to the juxtaposition of the case and Dulcie’s manuscript. Cat-mystery fans who can appreciate a slightly darker tone than is typical in the subgenre will like this series, as will fans of G. M. Malliet’s academia-set St. Just series—providing they can tolerate Mr. Grey. --Amy Alessio

Doc fetch goes through Layer's Aerospike pull-through cache; cache hit served the row without touching turbopuffer. The similar query re-embeds this product's title with CLIP-text and runs a vector query — queries don't go through the doc cache, so no cache header is set.
